Tom Doz

Every morning I wake up and take a dull pencil to the dimple of my chin to ensure that it stays deep enough to utilize for everyday activities well into my old age. I call it shaping for the future. These activities include opening beer bottles, getting deep into those back massaging pressure points and storing Monopoly pieces. I also listen to music. I love music. Especially music that Employee hates.

Caveman - Caveman

Tom Doz | May 6, 2013
This past weekend i went road trippin across the midwest. Naturally, before leaving, I packed up the man pod with a bunch of albums that I've been meaning to listen to. My listening queue is back logged like a motherfucker and all the time spent in the car...

Our interview with Radiation City - "Dudes' periods don't always do duets like dudettes' do, do they?"

Tom Doz | April 29, 2013
The thing I like most about writing for Syffal, other than the outlet it provides me to describe music with explicit sexual verbiage, is that we only write about music we absolutely love. We aren't critics and we aren't journalists. Thus, we don't comprehend...

Spacehog - As it is On Earth

Tom Doz | April 18, 2013
Yes you read that that right. Spacehog. As in: 'Our lands are greeeeen and skies are bluuuue.' If my review of this album is much of a surprise to you as it was to me then you are also guilty of writing this band off as a 90's one hit wonder...

One Song: Frank Zappa - Black Page

Tom Doz | January 11, 2013
Why am I writing another One Song when we retired the feature last week? Well, technically that was the group version of One Song. We still plan on keeping the feature but in a non-group setting. It will be a little more intimate...a little more personal......

Our Interview with Father John Misty - He is not really a person

Tom Doz | June 27, 2012
It's no secret now. We fucking love Father John Misty's new album Fear Fun. It's one of those albums where you can't pick out a favorite song because it changes weekly. Sometimes daily. Father John Misty is the...

Father John Misty - Fear Fun

Tom Doz | May 22, 2012
I have been in a bit of a slump in 2012 with my music. I’m not sure if it is just a matter of me not finding the right stuff to listen to or if there is a lack of great albums being released. I’ve been itching for my first ten star review, but nothing has...

Bahamas - Barchords

Tom Doz | April 16, 2012
Summer has come a bit early this year and I’m not talking about the unseasonably warm weather. Bahamas’ new album Barchords is perfect summer-time listening; if Jack Johnson and M. Ward were spooning on the couch, Bahamas...

Pop Cultures Collide: The Coasts - The Phony King of England (From the Disney Classic, Robin Hood)

Tom Doz | April 3, 2012
The Coasts are cuties, yet, they have such a gritty and dirty sound. This is why it does not surprise me that these lovable pricks would choose to rock the nutz off a Disney song. When lead singer, Ike Peters, told me that he’d be covering a...

Sam Cohen - It goes straight to the loins, and busy people like that

Tom Doz | February 9, 2012
I can't remember exactly how I came across Yellowbirds' latest album The Color, but I'm glad that I did because it was one of the more interesting albums I listened to last year. Usually for me, the 'interesting' label is applied to...
