If you have your head out of your ass you recall me dropping knowledge on your tits and dicks with my review of Air Dubai’s Wonder Age. Since then the dudes have signed with Hopeless Records and been touring all over the country breaking hearts and dicking down your girlfriends (probably). They recently landed a spot on the Warped Tour so hit that up if you haven’t already. In the midst of that tour Air Dubai has released their first record on the new label, Be Calm.

The first album for Hopeless is anything but hopeless. These bros waste no time in getting straight to the party with “All Day.”

If you’re wondering who is dropping that vocalized sex on the hook that’s Jon Shockness aka Jon Jon da Swoon Don aka Rhiasnoise aka Kid Astronavt aka Shocker the Panty Dropper. Jon has a voice that is like planting a silk spitting worm into your aorta. On tracks like “Sunrise” and “Soul and Body” you get drenched by the sensh. Bro has soul in his soul and he delivers it at every opportunity.

As the group grows up they get a little more sassy pants with tracks like “D.L.G.” “Dance With The Devil” and “Gone.” Dropping F-bombs on my virgin ears makes me uncomfy in these pantaloons bro bro. I want my meemaw. This album was a couple years in the making and you can really feel the growth of the band throughout the record. The sound is tightened up and consistent but it still sounds like an Air Dubai record. It is just an elevated Air Dubai record. We’re at cruising altitude now. Get out in the aisle and stretch. Order a drink. Flirt with the flight attendant. #Flightcrew in full and total effect.

Julian Church has a flow on the mic that is equivalent to a guy that will swoop in and steal your girl while you are in the bathroom fixing your hair. Smooth like the top of Joel’s head or the inside of Tom’s chin. If you bring your girl in his vicinity you might go home alone bro.

Some of the songs on here have a huge sound, big enough for heavy radio rotation. Tracks like “Afterglow” and “Warning” could slide into a radio spot without even the slightest eyebrow raise. This band just has the knack for creating a summertime soundtrack. There have the perfect blend of vibe out and party. They make me feel like drinking gin and tonics on the rooftop during a warm summer night while surrounded by beautiful people. Dripping with sexy.
