Truth be told, when I was a kid, I was obsessed with Joan Jett and The Runaways. The first time I heard "I Love Rock and Roll" I shit my plastic pants. I even had the song on a 45 with "Crimson and Clover" as a B-side. I also used to really like The Donnas first few albums AND even saw them live and they kicked so much asshole, shit was just flying everywhere. So when I came across The Dead Deads, I couldn't get over the album art. I instantly wanted this as a framed poster. It begged me to click on it.

Rainbeau kicks off with blistering drums and pounding bass, and a riffing-fun energy on "The Lonely Sound". What surprised me was, my 6 year old daughter, who is about 80% deaf, felt the drums right away and started banging her head.

If you have a daughter, you know how this can hit you in the feels.

When lead singer, Meta Dead starts singing it tied me up naked and crying and transported me back in a steam punk time machine to when I was a kid, who just loved a song when a song came on, because I loved it and not because I was worried about what people thought about what I was listening to.

There's a danceabilty to all these songs I really enjoy, well, dancing around in my Spongebob jammies to. Everything is driven by the bass and drums as an engine to make a live crowd get off their fat American assholes!

"Organ P" kind of has that old school, pop-punk clanky bass thump that make kids bop their heads. There's also a lot of Foo Fighter influence, in that 90's power-pop rock sound. The girls in The Dead Deads also throw their death metal hat in the ring a few times. See: "Nope". They have the back and forth chants, then a gutteral "I have huge Ballz" scream of fatality. Like, when Sub-Zero freezes an opponent and punches him apart. Fa-fucking-tality!

The catchiest song on Rainbeau is “Lemonade”:

It has that Courtney Love vibe, on that one good Hole album. It squeezes all kinds of catchy juice on you. The Dead Deads manage to make their band sound like everything you've ever heard but not sound ripped off. They also, play these songs like they love them and aren't trying to copy the things they were inspired by. That's the key there. Its what I look for in music. I don't care what the genre is. I just look for that love of one's craft.

Another one of my favorite bands in high school was White Zombie. I like Rob Zombie's love for theatrics and sticking with a theme, plus they made one of the greatest rock albums of all time in Astro Creep 2000. The Dead Deads have a similar quality. The make up, the do-it-yourself style videos and those X's over their eyes. I love that shit.

The names are perfect too. Like hot, undead superheroes ( Meta Dead-Lead Vocals/Guitar, Billy Dead-Vocals/Drums, Betty Dead-Vocals/Lead Guitar, Daisy Dead-Vocals/Bass, and Hella Dead-Vocals/Keys ).

I hear these guys have an unforgettable live show and when they stumble through Austin I hope to go and get my HELL fucking YEAHs out.
