I have many friends that love The Tallest Man On Earth. They even feel that they have the license to casually refer to him as TMOE. And then they'll casually drop that acronym in a sentence and assume I know who the fuck they are talking about like it's as common as FBI or NATO or some shit.

'Bro, I'm going to go grab some fish tacos before heading into TMOE on Saturday'

huh? Is that some sort of cleansing state? WTF are you talking about?

So, while I'm familiar with TMOE (Yes, i'm acronyming the shit out of TMOE in this review), I never really got into TMOE. I'd hear a song....I'd enjoy it...I'd intend to check it out, but never got around to it. It's kinda like my relationship with Mumford and Sons. I know they are good, but to a fault I get all 'Pitchforky' before I hitch myself to a bandwagon that is overly crowded.

Thus, I may have have wrote TMOE off as your standard indie Bob Dylan wannabe. Yeah, I know I'm a narrow minded dick-bag, but being willing to admit such things make me a few dicks short of a full bag of dicks.

Fortunately for me, I've been busy as fuck the last couple of weeks. I've been overloaded with all the chores that come with moving to a new state. I haven't had time to stay up to date on all the new album releases, BUT I've had Dark Bird Is Home sitting in my normally full 'recently added' playlist in iTunes. It was just begging to be played.

So last Sunday I was just about finished unpacking, the wife piece was out and the kids were.....I don't know where the fuck the kids were, but they weren't bothering me. I poured myself a beer and finally got a chance to enjoy my new deck. TMOE was my soundtrack.

Holy shit, the moment was so transcendent I EVEN SHARED IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA. The view into my new tree-filled backyard was glorious. My Revolution Fist City Pale Ale was dank as fuck. The breeze was breezy. And this TMOE album was perfect in that moment in time.

All you need to do is listen to the first track to know TMOE is not some emo frump with an acoustic guitar. Sure it starts off that way, but as the instrumentation and the reverb slowly dials up you feel a wave of feelz. It has the intimacy of a dude and his geee-tar, but the depth of a Kardashian vag; you could take mules down into it's hollowed depths and bask in the echos that surround you like a giant pillow of air.

Dark Bird Is Home is dressed up in layers strategically used to shed and add based on the climatic conditions you encounter.

Dark Bird Is Home is a fucking Eddie Bauer catalog that gives you the license to wear those zip off cargo pants without feeling like a douchebag.

Dark Bird Is Home feels like home: warm, welcome, and comforting.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm now ready to use the TMOE acronym in everyday conversation and assume you know what the fuck I'm talking about.

TMOE, bro.
