Favorite Songs (2014)

2nd Quarter

Staff | July 10, 2014

As our self-imposed cycle would dictate, it's time for us to unveil each of our favorite tracks for the second quarter of 2014.

And bro.

Is it just us or was there enough quality tracks this quarter to fill a Whale's vagina?

Find the minilogs of the SYFFAL staff member(s) you mesh with the most, click play, kick off your Sperry's, and let this shit invade your ears. We pretty much have something for everyone unless you are into line dancing and Jesus.

And remember, share what you like. Not for us....for the artists. Keep the good music alive.

5. Little Dragon - Cat Rider: This is tiding me over until Sister Crayon drops something new.

4. Sadistik - Chemical Burns f/Eyedea and Lotte Kestner: I can't believe nobody has sent me this for review purposes… wink, wink!

3. Blueprint - Perspective: This song is so perfect and delicious and perfect and Blueprinted!

2. N8NOFACE - RETURN THE FIRE: From note one, Brando goes ballistic.

1. Open Mike Eagle - Very Much Money (Ice King Raps): Heart meet song, song meet heart. #TheLoveIsReal

5. Tek tha Supah LAtin ft. LastMan, Ellay Khule, and Gel Roc - METHnFIBER: Gel Roc's gigantic verse vivisects with scary precision. "A BLUNT FULL OF KUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

4. Illa Ghee (Prod. by Diamond D) - 90: Pure science and that's all the explanation necessary.

3. Wes Nihil ft. Sol Zales - Lyrical Machineguns: You're finna get sprayed, flambeed, and hit wit' a grenade.

2. ANTWON- Loser: If this song doesn't break your heart, you probably never had a heart.

1. Opski Chan (Prod. by MR. AEKS) - CRUEL SUMMER: The South Bay brain trust decided to trust each other and go bash out some brains. BANGER.

Tom Doz

5. White Sea - They Don't Know: This is what indie pop should sound like; it's girthyness is only rivaled by Phantogram and The Naked and Famous.

4. Haerts - Call My Name: This fucking song....it makes me want to hug my knees in the corner while only wearing undies and an oversized white t-shirt.

3. Strand Of Oaks - Goshen '97: Just a straight up rock song with whaling guitars and a chorus that makes me want to hold my arm outside the window of a moving car and angle my hands up and down like they are wings.

2. Tishaki Miyaki - There Was A Light: The guitar solo alone will put this song into my top 5 of 2014; the sustain is so fucking dreamy. (This track won't play in minilogs....do directly to soundcloud to hear it....it's worth the extra effort: click)

1. Timber Timbre - Hot Dreams: Take the most sensh thing you know of, multiply it by a billion, and you still won't get close to the sensh level of 'Hot Dreams.'

Joel Frieders

5. Fractures - Won't Win: This dude with anxiety just sounds lost in a furniture-less room that gives him anxiety, overlooking a busy street that gives him anxiety. I am completely in lost lust with this song.

4. Big Mean Sound Machine - Sweet Tooth: You ain't wan be knowin' how fucking large I feel to this song. It's like four different movies. Each starring me with a huge package and a monocle. BALLS.

3. Kejnu - Egocentrix: At 0:58 I take the Nestea Ice Tea Plunge backwards no matter where the Fuck I am. This band is my Fuckin pillow (my mother in law calls it a "pellow").

2. Tom Vek - Sherman: I've been writing my review of this album for almost three weeks. This entire album? Balls, yes balls. But ferserious, the entire album is this headnoddy and this fucking addictingly sassy.

1. Tom Vek - Broke: This is the second Tom Vek song in a Top 5 songs from an entire three month period in the same year. YOU NEED ME TO FINISH THIS REVIEW BEFORE YOU SUCK THIS BAND OFF OR DO I HAVE TO GET WORDIER BROS? Seriously, I want this album to play all day, every day. It feels like riding a skateboard in a fucking three piece suit; I'm complicated sure, but I know how to party bro.
