All you holy rollers and rock n' rollers.
All you Bro's, Ho's and MoFo's.
All you shoe gazers, Major Lazers and grass grazers.
All you hipsters and sipsters.....sippin' from that indie Kool-Aid. That blue Kool-Aid that doesn't make you feel blue necessarilyish, but makes you feel ALIVE.
ALIVE like the left nut of Barry Gibbs that's singin' AH AH AH AH.
AHHHhhhhh, MMMMMmmmmm.
Below are Tom's favorite songs for January of 2016. If you don't like then it's Obama's fault.
Love,
Mama Grizzly
Dr. Dog - Bring My Baby Back: Still my favorite song this year...so far.
James Supercave - Better Strange: I swear this guy has been working on his full length album for 3 years. But if all the songs or EPs that are slowly leaking out are good....then I can wait. 'Better Strange' has this whole Gorillaz meets Radiohead vibe going on and it may be his best track yet.
White Denim - Holda You (I'm Psycho): HOLY SHIT. White Denim never disappoints. If the dual guitars on this track don't light your pants on fire, I applaud you for having the foresight to put on fire retardant boxers. F'real tho, you must always prepare for ANY White Denim song accordingly and that preparation almost always should include something to handle the fire that is sure to light up your crotchal region.
The Arcs - Lake Superior: Everybody has officially jumped on to the Steven Avery justice train. The Arcs (Dan Auerbach's side band) even wrote a song about 'Making A Murder'. AND I'm not going to lie....I thought it was going to be horrible. For some reason I wanted it to be horrible. BUT it's just not.
Wintersleep - Amerika: Wintersleep never fail to disappoint with the power of their riffage. That opening is so Pixies. The rest the song could blow (it doesn't) and I'd still suck it off because of the intro.
Radiation City - Juicy: I write about Radiation City so much that I'm going to soon run out of things to say about them. Thus, I'm saving what's left of my adjectives for their new album review...which is set to be released next month. *girl squeal - eeeeeeeeeeeeeek*
HINDS - Garden: I came across HINDS new album on NPR's first listen a couple of weeks ago and loved it. They kinda-almost sound like Best Coast, but sleepier and way better.
Tiger Waves - Down The Middle: Lazy hooks dressed up with harmonies. I swoon for that shit.
Pillar Point - Part Time Love: After you make it all the way through this song you probably won't be surprised that it was produced by Of Montreal's Kevin Barnes. Especially once you get to the bridge. But it also has that underlying bass groove that reminds me of 'Gronlandic Edit'. The overall groove is all Pillar Point though...so fucking dope.
Deep Sea Diver - Secrets: I mentioned above how much I like Wintersleep's intro. Well, the rest of this song could suck too (again, it doesn't) and I'd still love it just because of the last minute.
