Win In The End From the 1985 Movie Teen Wolf
Teen Wolf was a movie that always made me want to own a milk truck. I mean, I've had my peeps dancin' on my car roofs in the past, but being up so high and being so visible to the community would make le roof dancing all the more impressionable upon the peoples. The championship game scene in any 80's movie is always the most dramatic, and Michael J. Fox's performance during Teen Wolf was no exception. It was filled with slow motion cut scenes, missed shots, the fat guy from Pee Wee's Big Adventure, and one of those truly inspiring soundtrack additions that made you want to wrestle Matthew Modine.
Then there's Wes Restless. It is a crime that this dude is relatively unknown outside of Chicago, but his work with Dynamic Vibrations, The Gent$, The Jordan Years and even his own solo projects, have all been tastefully delicious. He's a soulful cat who is slowly realizing that his voice is fucking gorgeous and his production skills are even gaining traction on his pipes.
Fortunately for us, we know Wes Restless. Fortunately for you, HE fucking MURDERS THIS. Seriously. This is taking all cake from all previous Pop Cultures Collide contributors. WES HAS TO LOVES CAKE YO. HE TOOK IT ALL.
A Word From Wes Restless
In the movie Teen Wolf, MJ Fox's character Scotty was on a basketball team that went all the way to the championship. This was mostly because Scotty would turn into the wolf during the game and the wolf was like 50 times better at basketball than regular Scotty was.
Well Win In The End was the soundtrack to that championship basketball game scene. The original was done by Mark Safan in a very 80's power anthem style.
I always remember thinking it was a cool track even as a lil' youngin' watching a vhs version of the movie that my grandparents taped off of HBO. I decided to entirely re-build this song from the ground up and give it my own twist. It proved to be quite time consuming and challenging but I'm really happy to have done it. Big thanks to my guy Phal for coming through and lacing up his guitar magic and thanks SYFFAL for reaching out.
