Every morning I wake up and take a dull pencil to the dimple of my chin to ensure that it stays deep enough to utilize for everyday activities well into my old age. I call it shaping for the future. These activities include opening beer bottles, getting deep into those back massaging pressure points and storing Monopoly pieces. I also listen to music. I love music. Especially music that Employee hates.

Spoon - They Want My Soul

Tom Doz | August 12, 2014
I'm just going to flat out say it: I didn't expect to like this album. Spoon is a killer band. I was obsessed with them the moment their sound penetrated my virgin Spoon earz 10 years ago. Britt Daniels' voice is...

Sia - 1000 Forms Of Fear

Tom Doz | July 17, 2014
I'd like to think that i'm hip to the pulse of the music scene.....except when it comes to music I'm supposed to know about. Songs that my parents friends know about. Or even songs that my kids know about. Yet I'm in my own world seeking out 'cutting edge...

Strand Of Oaks - Heal

Tom Doz | July 15, 2014
Sometimes my heart has to tell my brain to stop being a dick and to look at the big picture. You know, like refusing to drink tequila when you are 35 years old because of that one time in college you had too many upside down margaritas? Tequila is great, bro...

Tom Doz | July 10, 2014

Rob Cantor - Not A Trampoline

Tom Doz | May 7, 2014
Sometimes I wish I had talent. I'd like to think that I have a talent for spotting talent, but that is the lowest form of talent. I'm basically a talent leech. And worst of all, that would make my 'talent' objective. So I'd really only be seen as 'talented'...

Calibro 35 - Traditori di Tutti

Tom Doz | November 18, 2013
I wasn't alive during the 60s so I when I say something is reminiscent of this era it's usually a loose interpretation of what I perceived the 60s to be like. And these perceptions are primarily formed through movies, TV shows, music, books and the vintage...

Our Interview with J. Roddy Walston - You can literally do anything in a Cracker Barrel

Tom Doz | August 26, 2013
Somebody recently asked me to explain how J. Roddy Walston and the Business sounded after I wouldn't shut up about one of their songs called I Don't Wanna Hear It. Usually I have to think about my explanations for a couple of minutes...

Radiation City - Animals in the Median

Tom Doz | May 16, 2013
There is no point in hiding on denying my bias: I'm a Radiation City fan. The music that Rad City creates is a perfect match to my ears: a little lo-fi, a little haunting, a little retro, a little reverby, and a LOT beautiful...
